“The path to enlightenment is in the middle way. It is the line between all opposite extremes.”- Siddhartha Gautama

A close friend once told me, at the time my guards were down and I was simply vulnerable, that the middle way is the right way. True enough, I just can’t help thinking about it so much I have to review again the Little Buddha film shoot sometime in 1993.

The time is now. It can’t be more exact than that.

The bloody baldy

December 13, 2007

Hitman blood moneyNope! I haven’t played this Eidos game turned big screen flick. But it sure caught my attention when I was out squandering for a “sit back and relax” moment during office hours. Thank goodness brownouts prevail in this country at least I have an excuse. Whatta bum! Anyways, I’ll carry a review-slash-diary on this blog.

Before I go click some stuff in Google about this movie, I’d like to give my unabridged thoughts. It was the delectable trailer and soundtrack that made me watch this film. The irony of a ruthless mercenary juxtaposed with Schubert’s Ave Maria is an interesting combination. Inside the movie house, the next thing that made it to my checklist was the actors and actresses involved. Never knew Timothy Olyphant was such a killer. I mean literally a killer in this movie besides the fact that I only knew him as Bruce Willis’ pain in the ass in Die Hard 4. He is a fine protagonist and antagonist at the same time. His acting caliber reminds me that of Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator something like men whose emotions are locked inside some internal vault waiting to be opened. I’m sure, despite the seriousness, there were gag moments during the entire film shoot lest it will not be fun doing it. The scene that I like the most is obviously the sex scene, what else?

On top of that is actually the fight scene inside the train, really breathtaking. On to his leading lady, Olga Kurylenko, she was such a troubled lady in the movie. What’s with gothic get-up has to do with troubled souls anyways? I hope she was not depicted that way in the game. Oh, I love the Russian accent baby and by the way, the tits were not spared. I just love it!

Of course, cinematography et. al. This should have come in first but hey, this is not rotten tomatoes. I say what I want to say. Disregard the set of criteria that critics do in that site. It’s becoming a bore though seeing all this blue screen antics. But that’s the “in thing” now, so let it die a natural death. I just hope its sooner.

I didn’t expect much from the movie but I did expect an uninterrupted viewing especially it was at the Block, SM cinemas. Somewhere between Dougray Scott’s investigating on the hitman’s luggage devices when the film burned and eventually blocked out. The ushers where not there and the Manongs, the reel goers, were simply nowhere to be found. People started to go out. It was only then that the personnel did something and it was a major skip. Instead of getting an already pissed-off day go berserk the more, I managed to watch it until the end. Some people at the orchestra area were shouting for a refund. Good thing, we were approximately less than a hundred that time. It would have been chaos had it happened to a large number of viewers.

I also observed a number of baldies from the viewers. I guess they were cut for the occasion hahaha. I wish I was like Agent 47 who remembers precisely everything he sees along the way. Hmmm, there is something in this movie that I plan to do away with my hair for a sexy baldy look. Naah! Tim carries it better than I do, for now.
